The Riflemums Challenge was set up as tribute to the 14 brave soldiers from the 2nd Battalion The Rifles who lost their lives, the many injured and those who fought along side them in Afghanistan, all of whom will always be remembered for the sacrifices they made.

In 2009, 2 Rifles were deployed to Afghanistan, a company from 4 Rifles also deployed. 2 Rifles would turn out to be the hardest hit Battalion in years, suffering 14 losses and many left with serious injuries, many being life changing injuries, with 4 Rifles also losing a Rifleman and others injured.

The Rifles is made up of 5 regular Battalions and 2 TA Battalions.

Since the Rifles amalgamated in 2007, 59 brave Riflemen have lost their lives in Iraq & Afghanistan, with over 300 injured, well over 50 have life changing injurues, only time will tell how many will suffer the effects of PTSD.

The Riflemums Challenge is now aiming to bring Riflemums together throughout the Regiment to do something positive to help ALL our heroes of THE RIFLES and their families.
